Our farm, in the beautiful seaside village of Branscombe in East Devon, UK, is run as a nature reserve, where no artificial fertilisers or pesticides are used. The Red Devon cattle and sheep graze the flower-rich meadows where rare butterflies and other wildlife have a chance to thrive. We avoid the routine use of animal medicines, and animal welfare is of course of prime importance to us. We grow vegetables, specialising in a wide variety of salad crops, without any artificial nasties! We keep free-range chickens for their wonderful eggs, and have also started to grow flowers this year, specialising in the more 'natural' and native kinds that both look wonderful in a bouquet and appeal to the bees.
We are in the Higher Level Stewardship Scheme which means we really look after the farm's biodiversity and wildlife.
The farm is run by Ian Crowe and Jenny Lonnberg, sometimes with a bit of help from the rest of the family!
